Nikkei 225 Up 0.78%, Japan Stocks Rise at Close of Trade

Nikkei 225, the Tokyo Stock Exchange benchmark index, closed on Tuesday with a 0.78% increase.

The mining, transport, and precision instruments sectors led the shares higher.

Top Performers of the Session

TOTO Ltd. rose the most with 8.64% or 395.00 points to close at 4,965.00. Daikin Industries and Eisai Co. also saw significant gains of 5.33% and 4.84%, respectively.

Worst Performers of the Session

Tokyo Electric Power, Dai-ichi Life Holdings, and Recruit Holdings saw the largest decline, with 4.18%, 3.04%, and 3.02%, respectively.

On the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the number of rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 2146 to 1403, and 278 ended unchanged. The Nikkei Volatility measured the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options and was down 3.80% to 18.21.

In commodity trading, crude oil for February delivery saw a decline of 0.44%, while Brent oil for March and February Gold Futures also saw a decline of 0.49% and 0.10%, respectively. USD/JPY and EUR/JPY saw an increase of 0.19% and 0.20%, respectively. The US Dollar Index Futures also saw an increase of 0.29% at 103.04.
